Our trip to Texas

We took couple of days off and visited V and family in Houston last weekend. We had a great time - enjoyed awesome food, good company and warm weather. We also managed to do a one day road trip to San Antonio from Houston. It was a little more than 3 hrs drive, one way. Given that we have a 2 year old, it was an overkill considering that we had rented his car seat from the rental car service, instead of taking our own all the way from Seattle to Houston. Turns out, it is best to just take along your own car seat, especially when there is a long drive plan - our little one couldn't nap well in an unfamiliar car seat. We visited Alamo, roamed about along the river walk and had lunch by the river. I would have liked to spend more time there - shopping and walking but we had to hit the road again pretty soon to make it back to Houston in reasonable time and a sane mind frame. It was a little hectic but felt good to be on the road - grabbing coffee on the way, talking, coming up with innovative ways to entertain a 2 year old - just hanging together as family without having to worry about chores and routine.
