Washington DC

The plan was to spend couple of days in Washington DC, sight seeing and a couple of days in NJ, visiting family.

We landed in Washington DC on the day after an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 had struck the East Coast in the August of 2011. Just when we thought that we had narrowly managed to escape flight delays due to the earthquake, Hurricane Irene hit the East Coast all the way from North Carolina and swept across DC, NJ, NY, Vermont to Canada. The two days that was planned for in NJ got extended to a week due to airport closures. After waiting out the storm at home with family, we just ended up working from NJ for the rest of the week.

I am so glad we made this trip to DC when the Obamas were in the White House.
